The Harkins family of companies traces its roots back to 1974 when founder C. William Harkins started a small building company from his office in Lake Mary/Sanford, Florida. At the time, he was already a licensed professional civil engineer, Class A general contractor, and commercially focused real estate broker. Over the past thirty years, the Harkins family of companies has branched into two separate entities.
The first was renamed Harkins Development Corporation, which soon evolved from a premier custom home building operation into a commercial general contracting firm whose specialty has become the design/ build delivery system. Harkins Development Co. has earned a stellar reputation with both national and local Orlando clients among business professionals. They have constructed numerous buildings for medical, surgical, dental, veterinary specialties, and even retail centers.
The second came in 1984, when Harkins added a separate company known today as Harkins Commercial, Inc. With the explosion of the development company, a strong need arose to assist clients in their search for commercial land, structure acquisitions, and dispositions. Harkins Commercial, Inc. has now become a well-respected commercial brokerage firm that serves both the needs of the development company clientele and the local community in which it resides.
As of January of 2006, Mark Harkins, son of Bill Harkins, joined the team as President of Harkins Commercial, Inc. Shortly thereafter, Mark developed the real estate division into a stand-alone comprehensive commercial real estate firm. Today, Harkins Commercial, Inc. also provides expertise in commercial leasing, tenant representation, property management, and commercial investments.
Harkins Commercial, Inc. has become a “one-stop shop” for all owners and investors of real estate, management, and development needs.
